Lefty Lucy

The summer flew by in a wink and the Pep is already into the third week of the fourth grade!  For homework, one day a week, he has to write sentences for all of his spelling words.  This week, one of his words was “left”.  The sentence he wrote is below…

“I’m not lefty lucy and never will be.”

While pretending to cough to hold back the laughter, I explained that the correct sentence should read…

“I’m not left handed and never will be.”

Then explained that “lucy” was really spelled “loosey” as in “loose”.  Of course, I also explained that “lefty loosey, righty tighty” referred to the direction in which you loosened or tightened a bolt, valve, etc.
